Top 6 Apps To Make Your Traveling Journey Easier
Whether you prefer iPhone over Android or vice versa, no smartphone is complete without applications, and traveling without them is no exception. I mean real talk. Did it really happen if there were no pictures of it? It at least validates your bragging rights. Leaving that aside, apps help us make our journey while traveling much easier. It is for that reason I created this short list of applications, so here are my top 6 apps to use while going anywhere:
Sapphire Go
Sapphire Go is at the top of this list for the simple reason of providing you affordable WiFi in over 130 countries. None of the applications on your phone are without our dear Wifi. Now, besides downloading the app on your smartphone, you must purchase the Hotspot device separately. Once done, you can decide whether to prepay or buy a data plan. Don’t believe me? 2. Google Maps
The name of this one says it all. Google. Maps. Unless your sense of direction is impeccable or you know how to use the stars and all the constellations above to guide you straight to your hotel or museum, you’ll need this app. People often assume that your taxi driver knows all the best places in town, but the sad truth is that they don’t. Usually, a taxi driver will know the most common tourist places but not every hidden gem. Even if you don’t use Uber or Lyft, let me tell you that they cannot always take you to the exact location you’re inquiring about. Sometimes, this could be because of a roadblock or too much traffic. Especially if you are a few minutes away, I suggest walking through the city with your own guide :-).
3. Google Translator
If you didn’t expect this one, you may haven’t yet traveled to a country where they don’t speak your language. Their “English” might be broken, AKA “not very good looking.” But at least it gets the message across better than a few hand signals. So this one is a must, especially when you’re looking for a good bargain or a location you can’t wait to visit.
4. Expedia
There are many apps from which you can make all kinds of reservations, but none is quite like Expedia. This app is one of my favorites because even if you don’t have a Credit Card with travel rewards, its point system can save you money. How? You’ll receive a point for every dollar you spend, and you can get 2x or 3x the points you earn by booking vacation packages such as your flight, hotels, and so much more. The points can be used to pay for other reservations, so besides getting the lowest fares in the market, you can still get another discount from this point system. Do you want to know more? Check out Expedia Point System.
5. Spotify
What is a car ride without music? Or a layover at the airport without it? A dreary start to your journey. If you’re like me, then you can’t live without music. This app is awesome, and it provides you with music regardless of your current mood or even if you are looking for something new or the most chart-topping songs. I’m using it right now as I’m typing this. The best part is using the app for free or getting the premium version. I’ll let you decide, so check out Spotify.com
6. WhatsApp
This one is obvious. Whether you are trying to reach out to your loved ones to remind them to pick you up at the airport from a foreign country or if you want to meet your friends at any country’s local bar for drinks, WhatsApp can help. It doesn’t matter if they have a local or foreign number; the best part is that it works with any smartphone. I’ve used it to ensure I have a ride that can take me to the airport when I’m late for my flight or a play #BalletIsAwesome Plus is one of those apps like Instagram or Facebook that people use worldwide.
