Tips To Help You Decide Where To Travel Next

After days, weeks, or, for some of you, months, you’ve finally motivated yourself to take the leap and decided to go on vacation. Unless you’ve daydreamed about traveling to an exotic location like I always do, the next questions that will pop into your mind are when and where. I mean, the possibilities are endless, right? Well, it’s more like endlessly subject to season, budget, type of vacation desire, possibly your gender identity, and personal interest while exploring that country. Do I have your attention yet?

Before jumping in, feel free to follow this list in whichever order you’d like. Make sure you have a pen or paper where you jot down important details. Without further delay, here are my “5” tips for deciding your next traveling destination.

Budget

Setting a budget is very important before traveling anywhere. But when I say “budget,” I don’t only mean considering the money you’ll be spending while on vacation. But also to set aside money for any emergency we hope not to experience and to ensure that the bills are taken care of for a guilt-free return home. You should estimate the total amount for the following:

Bills are due during that month.

Transportation fees (Whether Air, land, or water fares)

Lodging (Hotels, Airbnb, hostels, etc.)

Activities (Museums, water parks/ sports, festivals, etc.)

Souvenirs (a little something for your loved ones and yourself)

Me Time Aka Pampering #Me (spa, salons, massages, etc.)

Season

This word can mean different things. For example, a high (touristic) season in that country or the weather conditions within the specific time you plan to travel. For this reason, I’ve divided this one into the following:

Weather Season: Considering the weather conditions is very important; not only will you be able to prepare by packing appropriate gear and clothing, but knowing this will help you narrow down the activities you can do throughout that time. Also, it’ll help you to weigh in on whether you’d rather postpone your visit to that country.

High & Low Season: Going to a country in high season can be troublesome because of the long lines at historical monuments and museums, and reservations are a bit harder to get at a convenient time. Personally, I would prefer to go in the low season so that I have more time to enjoy myself and less stress while getting more done. But this may not be ideal based on your preference. Therefore, choose wisely.

Gender Identity (You Can Skip This One If you don’t identify yourself as female)

Unfortunately, even today, we still have countries that don’t share the same opinion regarding equal rights. By this, I mean that whether you’re a female or identify as a female, it behooves you to do some digging to make sure you can travel to that country alone while dressing your beautiful self as the queen you are. With this in mind, make time to search the following:

Is it safe for a female or LGBTIQA+ to travel alone to “x” country?

Are there any regulations or laws for female clothing in “x” country?

Can a man get arrested for dressing as a female in “x” country?

How restricted is “x” country with the LGBTIQA+ community? Can I be “out” and about displaying my sexual preference?

Type of Vacation Desire

If you think of vacation and the only thing that comes to mind is spending time at the beach drinking margaritas, that will be the first category you should start searching for. But if all you can think of is snowy mountains and hot springs, your search should be accordingly. Remember that the current weather at home doesn’t imply that you won’t be able to take the vacation you dreamed of. Our marvelous planet offers us an array of weather conditions and ecosystems to explore. With this being said, I’d like to ask you to start your journey to protect our planet by getting informed; click on Nature.com.

Personal Interest

Maybe you dreamed about surfing more than just the web, LOL. No, but seriously, perhaps you dreamed about surfing the waves in Honolulu, Hawaii, or scuba diving Australia’s Blue Hole’s Great Barrier Reef. Whether you prefer having fun at the Sand Dunes in Dubai or skiing and watching the Nothern light in Norway, enjoying yourself and doing what you love matters the most. Following your passion or enjoying your hobbies worldwide can be that one thing you never thought you needed in your life.

My dear flock, starting our journey consists of researching and jotting down the locations you like the most. Then, you should adjust based on how you envision your vacation while incorporating your interests within that country. We must consider that there are places we should skip in the meantime for our safety and well-being. Setting a budget or making financial arrangements should help you narrow your options, depending on when you plan to travel there. Please take the time to get to know your next destination. Sometimes, the most memorable times while traveling are the hidden gems, meaning places that aren’t easy to find on the web. Lastly, as long as you don’t miss any main concepts, you should be able to choose the destination that best suits you for your next trip. I hope you like reading this blog as much as I enjoy writing it. Thank you, and see you at the next one.
