An Egyptian Ibis’ tale

February 5th, 2021

My dear brave heart,

I am 9 afternoons away 'till I finally spread my wings and fly back to you.

Throughout Egyptian history,

The ibis has been considered a sacred bird.

associated with Thoth,

the god of wisdom and writings...

If there was to be any resemblance of him in me,

my then skills and knowledge would be writing manuscripts

about the symmetrical shape of your shoulders

My palimpsests would be about the outline of your naked shadow

while you contemplate the sunset

from the balcony facing the sea

and the wind reshaping your locks

All my vellums would be about the deep melodic tenor tones of your vocal cords,

All my holograms would be about the prismatic bronze elements

of your silky locks as I run my fingers through them

Mirroring the waves of an ocean.

All my holographs would be about the perfectly aligned angles of your cheeks

descending to your chin

My codex would be about your mighty intellect

creatively deciphering the puzzle of my troubled heart

and, at the same time,

decoding my encrypted feelings for you

All my scrolls would be translating the language of your heart,

detailing and describing your bravery against your adversaries,

along with the times you faithfully leaped in a forsaken time,

rising against all odds

Our love keeps on flourishing

In this aridity of the desert valley, you found me

As if they were fertile lands

With green hues dancing in the starry nights on the Emerald Isle

I would place all my writing in secret corners of this world

so that only those searching for real love

Could discover the reasons why I love you so.

With much love,

Your one and only

Ibis
